Psychiatric hospital Sv. Ivan is a modern hospital working with adult psychiatric patients, yet a hospital with a great tradition. The variety of in-patient and out-patient wards, expert orientations and applied techniques, scientific work and project management, with constant efforts in staying up to date, makes this hospital unique and worth visiting. The buildings and hospital yards are constantly being renovated and maintained.
1. Department of psychotherapeutic treatment of affective, anxiety and dissociative disorders and personality disorders with daily hospital for non-psychotic disorders – Department IX
The program is implemented through group-oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy in small and medium-sized groups, cognitive-behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, creative and recreational activities (including visits to museums, theaters…) and psychopharamacological treatment. Therapeutic communities as a form of socio-therapeutic treatment are a common gathering place for all members of the department – patients and staff. The multidisciplinarity of the team with additional education in psychotherapy (doctors, nurses and technicians, psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker) allows better understanding and care of patients. Visits to other departments and parts of the hospital (like the TMS) are also possible.
2. Department of psychotherapeutic and sociotherapeutic treatment of psychotic disorders and borderline conditions and early intervention with daily hospital for treatment of psychotic and borderline disorders – Department X
The psycho-therapeutic and psycho-social treatment and rehabilitation of patients with psychotic disorders and borderline conditions consists of a comprehensive program of early intervention for first episode psychotic disorders (RIPEPP) and “Sense and Sensibility” program for persons with personality disorders. The department operates within the Ministry of Health’s Reference centre for psychotherapy, psycho-social interventions and early intervention in psychotic disorders which has its headquarters in the Psychiatric hospital “Sveti Ivan”. The team is multidisciplinary with additional education in psychotherapy (doctors, nurses and technicians, psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker). Psycho-therapeutic program consists of a combination of different types of therapy: therapeutic community, individual and group psychotherapy, CBT, anti-stigma and anti- stress workshops, psycho-education lectures, occupational therapy, recreation…
Visits to other departments and parts of the hospital (like the TMS) are also possible.
3. Department of integrative psychiatry – Department XI (XI a-male, XI b-female)
The Programme of integrative psychiatry (PIPS) is carried out by a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers). It nourishes the integrative approach of timely recognition, treatment and rehabilitation. The treatment consists of personalized medical treatment, group and individual psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, occupational therapy and group and individual work with the social worker. As psychiatric patients often have comorbid physical diseases it is necessary to treat and control not only the basic psychological but also physical illness. That’s why the objective of this specific program is early detection of risk factors, timely detection and treatment of mental and physical illness and reducing mortality and morbidity of chronic physical disease in psychiatric patients while improving their quality of life.
Visits to other departments and parts of the hospital (like the TMS) are also possible.
