Macedonia

FYR of Macedonia not only attended the EFPT Forum for the first time, they also won the Best Country Poster Award. They write about their experience:

As a newly established Section of Psychiatric Trainees of Macedonia, one of our first initiatives was to promote the positive image of psychiatry among medical students. The major accent [???] was on child and adolescent psychiatry as a new and separate training program (from September 2015) and the target group were students in their 5th and 6th year of medical studies. In our country only 13% are CAP trainees, hence our intention was to improve that percentage in the years to come. The seeds were planted, now we are waiting for the results. Hopefully it will have a positive outcome.

Among many other top projects and initiatives in the European countries, ours was selected for the Country poster Award. We received a certificate and two books, naturally both of them are in the domain of psychiatry. Fortunately enough we didn’t have any trouble with the luggage weight at the airport check-in desk, because one of the books was only 5 kilograms 🙂

We are lucky that we participated in this year’s Forum in Antwerp and also grateful for the given bursary from EFPT that made the participation for us much easier. It was a privilege to meet so many colleagues from all around Europe and share different experiences with them; our involvement in many of the working groups was really productive; we attended some really good lectures and presentations; in one word – we are happy that we were part of the psychiatric trainees family. We came to the Forum not knowing what to expect, we said ‘Goodbye’ to it already richer with friends and a booked spot for the next Forum in Istanbul, packed with high motivation and wishes to improve furthermore.

We are hoping we are going to see each other very soon. Until then, we wish you all the best.

Miloš Milutinović,
on behalf of the delegation of Psychiatric Trainees Section of Macedonia
