Spain – Sociedad Española de Residentes de Psiquiatría (SERP)
About SERP
The Sociedad Española de Residentes de Psiquiatría (SERP) is the national association representing psychiatry residents in Spain. Founded in 2015, SERP strives to unify and support trainees across the country by promoting high-quality training, encouraging professional growth, and strengthening international collaboration. The association acts as a bridge between Spanish trainees and the broader European psychiatric community through its active involvement in the EFPT.
Activities and Initiatives
- Webinar Series: SERP currently hosts a dynamic series of webinars tailored to psychiatry residents in Spain. These sessions cover key areas such as research methodology, dual pathology, and a variety of clinical and academic topics. The aim is to make advanced knowledge accessible and stimulate curiosity and excellence among future psychiatrists.
- Grants for Conferences: Understanding the importance of exposure to national and international scientific events, SERP offers travel grants and financial support to help residents attend major psychiatric congresses. This initiative encourages ongoing learning, networking, and scientific contribution.
- Member Participation: SERP is actively seeking to involve its members in new initiatives and decision-making processes. All residents are encouraged to contribute ideas, participate in events, and help shape the future of psychiatry training in Spain.
- EFPT Engagement: The association maintains a dedicated liaison with the EFPT, ensuring that Spanish residents are represented at the European level. SERP delegates actively participate in the EFPT Annual Forum, collaborating on projects and sharing best practices across countries.
- National Events: SERP organized a national meeting, such as the Encuentros de Residentes de Psiquiatría, providing a space for professional exchange, discussion of training challenges, and updates on the latest developments in psychiatry.
