PREFACE
The European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is an independent federation, representing the consensus of psychiatric trainees’ organizations in more than 30 European countries, supporting thousands of psychiatric trainees in all branches of psychiatry across Europe. Since its inception in 1992, the EFPT has played a major role in improving psychiatric training throughout, and recently even beyond Europe.
The statements on the standards of training in this document are the result of the activities of EFPT working groups and become official EFPT policy. They have been compiled over the years and agreed by all EFPT members as relevant, up-to date recommendations for a good training in adult psychiatry irrespective of the country of training. The statements are a continuous work in progress, and are in accordance with the information assembled by several tools EFPT utilizes, namely the annual EFPT Country Reports, the Test Your Own Training online survey and the yearlong active communication with EFPT NTA representatives. Furthermore, EFPT appreciates collaboration with other professional associations in the field, reflected as joint statements on the requirements/standards of training.
