PREFACE
The European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) is an independent federation, representing the consensus of psychiatric trainee’s organizations in more than 30 European countries, supporting thousands of psychiatric trainees in all branches of psychiatry across Europe. Since its inception in 1992, the EFPT has played a major role in improving psychiatric training throughout Europe. The statements on the standards of training in this document are the result of the activities of EFPT working groups and become official EFPT policy. They have been compiled over the years and agreed by all EFPT members as relevant, up-to date recommendations for a good training in Psychiatry irrespective of the country of training. The statements are a continuous work in progress, and are – together with the information assembled in the EFPT country reports – the main tool EFPT uses to drive changes toward improvement of psychiatric training. It is our hope that the new Test Your Own Training (#TYOT) tool which is currently under development by EFPT will further help trainees in Europe to assess how their training compares to these guidelines.
