LAPE Hospital

Founded in 1857, French La Paix Hospital is the first psychiatric hospital of Turkey. The hospital was established in the land granted by the Ottoman Empire to the Filles de la Charité de Saint Vincent Nuns who were caring for the wounded soldiers of the Crimean War.

Founding chief physicians  to the hospital included historical figures of psychiatry in Turkey, such as Dr. Luigi Mongeri, Dr. Avram de Castro and Dr. Mazhar Osman. Evolving into a modern non-profit and private hospital during the years, the institution is now serving the populace with an outpatient clinic and a 150-bed inpatient clinic organized in general psychiatry, geropsychiatry and addiction units.
