Address: Psychiatric Dept for Children & Adolescents, “G. Papanikolaou” General Hospital, Exohi, 57010, Thessaloniki

This is one of the two psychiatric depts for children and adolescents that operate in Thessaloniki. We offer multidisciplinary assessments and treatments for children and adolescents, aged 0-18, for a wide range of developmental and psychiatric disorders. Our Dept offers both community work in its Community Mental Health Center for Children and Adolescents, based in the center of the city, as well as inpatient treatment in the 10-bed In-patient Unit, based in the hospital premises, in the suburb of Exohi. Staff includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, speech and occupational therapists and special education teachers. A special needs primary school and a similar secondary school are located by the In-patient Unit and they work closely with the patients and staff. A growing part of our work-load is forensic work, as well as multicultural work with immigrant- and refugee children. We are a full-time Training Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Trainees, as well as we offer training placements to many other mental health professionals, both undergraduate and postgraduate.
