The EFPT Exchange Programme is a short-term observership program for psychiatric trainees in Europe established in 2011 offering placements in different fields of psychiatry across Europe.
In the 2020 Virtual-Romanian Forum, the Exchange Working Group has announced the ‘Exchanges beyond Europe’ initiative. Through this programme bilateral exchange programs are now possible with non-European Countries.
Application periods occur every May and November for exchanges occurring between September – February and March – August respectively. In view of the current COVID-19 crisis the last application period (May 2020) was postponed. The first Application period post-COVID took place from July 2021 – August 2021.
Exchange programs last between 2 – 6 weeks and can be tailored to the individual wishes of the applicant. Host countries provide various opportunities within clinical work, research and teaching.
