Local Organising Committee

The Forum has been organised by a very enthusiastic group of psychiatrists based in Bristol and elsewhere in the UK.  We are very excited about welcoming you to the UK this summer!

Meet the team here:

Kirsty Alderton

Hey everyone, my name is Kirsty Alderton and I’m a ST5  higher trainee in Bristol. I am currently working in liaison psychiatry and have an interest in perinatal mental health and promoting mental wellbeing. I went to medical school in Bristol and have been here ever since. It’s an amazing city with a lot to give. Can’t wait to welcome you all!

Jonathan Davies (JD)

I’m in my 3rd year of psychiatry training. I have a research interest in psychosis. I studied medicine in Bristol and have then stayed here for all my training – perhaps a testament to my love of Bristol (or a lack of imagination!) Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, illustration and trying to get strong enough to compete in a local strong man competition (still a long way to go…).

Grace Harris

Hi everyone, I am a third year core trainee in the Severn Deanery and I am really looking forward to welcoming you to our fabulous city, Bristol!!!  I love travelling and meeting new people.  I have a special interest in child and adolescent psychiatry and global mental health and have been lucky enough to volunteer in Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis and to work with unaccompanied asylum seeker children here in Bristol.  I’m really looking forward to having the opportunity to share our experience of psychiatry training from across Europe.

Ruth Harrison

Hi, I am Ruth. A second year core trainee working in Bristol. I am excited to be helping to organise the forum and am looking forward to meeting everyone and showing you around the great city that is Bristol!

Magdalena Klemm

My name is Magdalena Klemm. I am a Specialist Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry. I have been a local coordinator of EFPT exchange in 2015/16 in Bristol. I am originally from Poland where I graduated from University and having experience of training in different countries makes me very interested in exploring the views of psychiatry trainees across Europe.

Karl Scheeres

Hi, I’m Karl.  I’m a Consultant Psychiatrist in perinatal psychiatry in Bristol.  I first got involved with the EFPT when I went to Porto in 2015, and have been hooked ever since!  I’m particularly interested in training and education; I’m is on the Exams Committee at the Royal College of Psychiatrists that runs the MRCPsych exams.  I’m really looking to welcoming all EFPT delegates to my home town of Bristol.

Howard Ryland

Hi everyone, I have been involved with EFPT for a loooong time now and it is a very special organisation, which I am extremely proud to be part of.
