Welcome

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 26th European Forum of Psychiatric Trainees that will take place in Bristol between 21st and 25th July 2018.

Bristol is a beautiful and diverse city in the West of England, near the border with Wales.  It is known for its non-conformism and this has led it to produce some of the UK’s most iconoclastic artists, writers, politicians and musicians.  Surrounded by beautiful countryside and situated on the river Avon, the city is also famous for its pioneering industrial and engineering history, exemplified by Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge and S.S. Great Britain.

EFPT has always been at the forefront of innovation and new ideas.  It’s young, dynamic spirit has never been afraid to challenge the status quo and strive towards ‘Shaping the Future of Psychiatry’.  This fearless enthusiasm to work for a better future, combined with the industrious yet independent nature of the host city, have inspired the Forum’s theme of ‘Thinking differently about mind and brain’.

We are looking forward to welcoming you all to the next EFPT Forum.

See you in Bristol in July!

Howard Ryland

EFPT President 2017-2018
